Frogs, snails and puppy dog tails

My eldest daughter had her eighth birthday back in April. I had the privilege of attending a “stamp camp” the weekend before and so I had a whole weekend to come up with the perfect card for her!

I had been eyeing off shaker cards for quite some time, but had never sat down to give one a try. So with a whole weekend to give it a whirl I armed myself with a youtube tutorial, paper, scissors and was off! If you are after a simple, but great tutorial to give a shaker card a go I can highly recommend the tutorial below by worldofjencraft.com. My card was based on her design and instructions.

Rather than using the little girl in the tutorial I decided to use a puppy dog theme as my daughter had recently obtained a toy puppy for her favourite doll! The puppy was stamped using the “Happy Tails” stamp set and cut out using the dog shaped punch. I coloured it using my copic markers. The shape for the shaker window was cut using the “Stitched Seasons Framelet Dies”.

I was super happy with how the card turned out. Phoebe was super excited when she opened it and even months later I catch her walk past the card, admire it and give it a shake!

One happy birthday girl!
