Mermaid Shaker Card

After making the Puppy Dog Tails card for Phoebe’s birthday I had caught the shaker card bug and wanted to make one for Emily’s 6th birthday. I needed something different but just as special so I decided to experiment with a different design!

I used the Magical Mermaid stamp set to stamp and colour the mermaid and seaweed and I used the a combination of different dies to create the frame. As with the puppy dog card I used some adhesive sequins on the background to give it the sparkle even when the sequins and beads had settled to the bottom.

I was having some issues with static acetate in this one and found that the little glass beads help to keep the sequins moving around behind the acetate. I also discovered that it’s worthwhile using the proper adhesive foam strips rather than offcuts form my dimensional sheets (haha!) and that the images need to be stuck to the background rather than raised with foam so that the sequins have room to move around when shaken!
